The summer heat has arrived. It feels like it’s about 95 here (that’s about 34 celcius) with a thousand percent humidity. The only solace it just to dive into a vat of gelato, which I am doing almost every day.

It’s so hot that I am drinking only white wine. Vermentino Colli di Luna, from the coastal border of Tuscany and Liguria, is a new discovery for me. It’s nicely acidic and so goes well with slightly fatty foods such as the pasta I made tonight with pancetta, sweet onions from Tropea, minced parsley and basil, and shaved parmesan cheese.
